Saturday 23rd August - Charity Goat Race
This years Charity Goat Race will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at The Green on Kenyatta Drive, Msasani Peninsula.
Gates open at 12 noon and close at 5:30pm.
The Dar es Salaam Charity Goat Races main aim and objective it to raise funds for charities in Tanzania and to bring the community together for a fun, family day out. At the same time the Goat races hope to create a wider awareness in the community that there are those less fortunate than themselves who need our support.
The Goat Races were first introduced to Tanzania in 2001 and over the past 7 years have raised millions of shillings for various charities. [View Supported Charities]
The idea of a Goat Racing event was brought here from Uganda, where in 1993, some members of the business community came up with this novel way of raising money for charity. They introduced the Goat Races modeled (vaguely) on the UK Royal Ascot horse races, except with a rather more practical beastie for East Africa - the racing goat.
We are very grateful to have the support of so many grand Sponsors and without them the goat races would not be the success it is today.
Come out for a good cause and have some fun on August 23rd!Feel free to make comments, ask questions, and chat to other What's Happening in Dar readers on this blog!
